Where’s The Travel Plan Sue ?
It’s strange how you bump into people just at the right time, and today was no different. One of our team bumped into Paul (name changed over concerns for his safety), a local resident who had multiple problems with the parking stewards from Hamptons during Ramadan this year.
Paul has been emailing his ward councillor, Sue Young for nearly 4 months, in the hope that a permanent solution to the ongoing parking issues at Hamptons, can be found.
After 4 months, and despite promises from Cllr Young, nothing has happened. Let’s start back in May 2023.
Thank You For Your Kind Words - May 2023
So here’s Cllr Youngs’s first response to Paul’s email, where he described his problems during Ramadan, his frustrations with the Police and suggesting a solution needs to be found.
Parish Council Meeting - June 2023
Paul saw that Hamptons was being discussed at the June, Parish Council meeting, so he sent in a letter describing his problems, and copied in Cllr Young. Here’s her response:
AND HE WAITED, AND HE WAITED - September 2023
Finally Paul got fed up waiting, and in August asked for an update. He also voiced his concerns about an upcoming event Here’s the response, received on 6th September 2023:
“SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN ASKING ABOUT FOR several YEARS”
Now we’ve seen hundreds of emails between councillors and council officers about Hamptons. Apart from Cllr Young submitting a parking review to the South East Parking Partnership, we’ve never seen any mention of her being in favour of a Travel Plan.
A Travel Plan would of course be required if a change of use Planning Application was to be submitted, and to us, it’s an admission by Cllr Young that she feels a change of use has already taken place,
