As We Start Year 5
We could never have imagined, that we’d still be fighting for the residents, nearly 5 years on from the launch of our campaign. To mark the fifth year of our campaign, we gave the team a few weeks off.
Our team have returned fully refreshed, and ready to develop and deliver some new strategies to assist residents.
Our aims and objectives haven’t changed, we want the owners of the Hamptons Mosque to respect the same planning laws that apply to us all, and we want the out of hours disturbance, the unlawful use of the venue, the discrimination against the non Muslim community, and the anti social behaviour to cease.
The council remain woke and spineless
As we have maintained all along, our city council are terrified of being labelled racist and Islamophobic, and are prepared to throw local residents under the bus.
The self proclaimed champions of diversity, The Lib Dens, continue to promote and support the activities of the mosque, with it’s extremist Head Imam, front and centre.
The rights of residents to enjoy their home in peace and quiet seem to not matter to the council, perhaps a legal challenge will focus their attention.
Council officials have botched enforcement visits, tipped off the owners about complaints and failed to remain impartial, a requirement of the standards of conduct in public office.
They have accepted the lies and fabrications presented by the Chelmsford Muslim Society without challenge, and when legal requirements to supply information have been ignored, they failed to escalate to issue to formal warnings and legal action against CMS.
Officers have repeatedly failed to communicate with residents who complain or make information requests, and rarely comply within any of the timelines listed in the council policies. So far officials have escaped official scrutiny, but we will be looking to do something about that !
It’s Not really Been A Sports Centre Since 2020
Everyone knew what would happen to Hamptons, and as predicted the bars closed, and the dance groups were forced out. Now the sports sections are under threat:
The Short Mat Bowls are cancelled as often as they bowl, and for the first time in 20 years, there is no club team competing the local leagues.
Squash have lost a court to a fully segregated gym which hardly gets used.
Tennis are now set to share two courts with five a side football.
Despite getting a 96k council tax rebate from their besties at the council, the tennis floodlights still haven’t been upgraded.
Hamptons remains a hotbed of extremism .
Even though Essex Police declined to take any formal action against the Head Imam for hate speech, his sermons and actions meet the threshold for extremism.
To have an individual in charge of a faith school, who promotes anti western and anti British values, and is openly Homophobic, anti-semitic and misogynistic, is something that the public needs protection from. something we’ve covered in detail, in these articles:
The Extremists On Your Doorstep Pt 1
The Extremist On Your Doorstep Pt 2
That responsibility falls principally at the feet of the charity trustees, who are unlikely to act, but also the charity commission, the public protection team at the council, and Essex police
The Government has spent millions developing the Prevent scheme, and training public officials. but no one seems to want to make a referral for Hamptons !
Ramadan is just 7 weeks away
Not great news again for residents, who get to enjoy 30 consecutive nights of early morning and late night disturbance, anti social behaviour and inconsiderate parking by worshippers.
We are predicting more flashpoints, more conflict with residents and of course, a total lack of interest from the city council and local plod. And year on year, the impact of Ramadan on the local area increases !
BUT with your help, we will continue the fight !
